Jammers 1st formal dance

Well,

Last Friday night Jamison went to Homecoming. He went with a really good friend named Haley who has (had) a boyfriend until the night before. He goes to a different school, so it was okay with him that she went with Jami. She is older and drives, they left in a Hummer, that is his friend Brocks. They went to Rainforest Cafe for dinner with 9 other couples. The total for his dinner was $18.26. They shared a pizza. I sent him with $50. He is sooooo not like his sister. She would have spent $49.99. (I still love her though). Anyways while they were all having a good time.....

I hosted a girls night at my house with 6 friends. We had a good time catching up and having girl talk. Lots going on in everyones world.

Jamison had everyone over after the dance for food and drinks. 5 boys stayed the night and the girls left by 2:00. I was up until 2:30 making sure all were tucked into bed.

The night was successful all around.

Jammers world.....

Jammer and Dallen (Jo's boy)

Well,
Jamison turned 15 on July 1st. He is now driving...with a permit. He just made the HS golf team. Yeah!!! He is in a band called "A Silent Homecoming." He plays electric guitar. He is keeping us busy now that Nik is gone. Him and his best friend Conner took the train to Portland the weekend we moved Nikki down. They went golfing a couple of times with Chris. They are going to Boise for a few days over the holiday weekend. He is now officially taller than me and I think his dad. His hands are bigger than his dads and his feet I am pretty sure.....size 15. Yikes!

Jamison and his dad went driving last night and it was scary from what I am told. Jamison went to pull out and didn't realize that a car was as close as it was and they almost got hit. Chris turned and saw the car and told Jammer (nickname) to "hit it" (the gas). I would have yelled "oh shit" we're about to get hit. T
hat is why I don't drive with new drivers. All I can handle is the neighborhood.

He started 10th grade last week and has been so busy with homework and golf. His goal is to get good grades this year and study hard so he can go to Highline community College for his last 2 years of HS and finish with his AA. Nikki did it and she is technically a Sophmore in college. She only went for her Senior year though.

A whole new world....

Well, 3 weeks ago Nikki left for COLLEGE...... I can't believe it. She was just born. As I read others blogs, it reminds me so much of things when my kids were little and we never had anything like this to keep people posted. I think it is great that you all are able to document like this. Anyways back to Nik.
She is Going to Portland State University in Oregon. She is on the Women's Soccer team. She plays goalie. There are 2 other goalies that are Sophomores, so she will have to work extra hard to gain playing time this year I suppose. One part of being on a college sports team is the fitness. Her coach had them prepare all summer for a rigorous fitness test to be given the 1st day of preseason. Only one girl passed it, so the whole team is in the "breakfast" club. That is running training at 7 AM each day in addition to 2 more practices during the day, daily. You can imagine by the 3rd day, we got the phone call..... homesick, sore, tired yadayadayada. We were planning on going down to watch their first game 2 days later, but she needed her mom:) so I went down by myself a day early. The thing about her campus is it is right in the middle of downtown Portland. In the middle of campus is 6 blocks of beautiful city park. Tons of trees, shade, grass, fountains, statues and every Saturday there is a farmers market that the girls buy their fruits and veggies at. The transportation system is also to die for. We walked a lot of places and took the trolley down to shopping and dinner. There is also a type of subway system there called "MAX". She wont ever need a car there. She walks to Starbucks....right outside her apartment. Safeway is a few blocks away in the city. Blockbuster is around the corner. She is officially a city girl. She knows how to get anywhere fast. I just let her lead the way. If you ever get down there, she will definitely show you a good time.
So on Sunday they had their first game and won 2-0. The GK's each played 30 minutes, so she has officially played in her first college game....very proud moment. It made all of the thousands of dollars spent on club soccer worth it. Before I left that day I took her and her new friend Krysta to dinner at the Ole Spaghetti Factory. So I left feeling pretty good, knowing that I would not see her probably for a couple of weeks......The very next morning..
Phone call at 7 AM. "MOM" JOHN LENTZ WAS KILLED LAST NIGHT. John was a friend of hers from HS that just graduated with her. He was in a car accident. He lost control and his car was pinned up against billboard pole, exploded and he ws burned over 90% of his body. He died enroute to Harborview. It was on the news. So she is coming home tomorrow for his funeral on
Monday. Her coach had her take a few days off. The other cool thing about where she lives is she can take Amtrak to and fro. The trolley goes right to the train station. So we will pick her up in Tacoma at 11:30 tomorrow.
Nikki lives in an apartment style dorm. She has her own kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. There is a living room, that her roomate is going to use as her bedroom. she won't be there until September. She is a golfer from the UK. Nik has been on her own for 3 weeks now. It will be interesting to add a roomie to the mix.
